SIR – I was rather interested in the letter by Ian Parsons (August 19). Yes, Ian, you are correct in what you say, the Lib-Dems also promised to oppose the increase in the rate of VAT. Then after selling their souls down the river they voted for the increase. A total unprincipled act of treachery by a party who gained thousands of votes on their promises and Nick Clegg’s new type of politics.
I have often said all Lib-Dem MPs elected at the 2010 General Election were elected on lies, I believe that they obtained my vote by fraud.
Nick Clegg is not avert to controversy, he was involved in the Sheffield Forgemaster application for a loan from the government of in the region of £36 million. The Coalition cancelled the loan. Also involved in this was Vince Cable MP. Everybody should remember he sold the taxpayer short by £3.01 million approximately in the sell-off of the taxpayer-owned Royal Mail. Vince Cable was also a Lib-Dem MP. People will not be treat like this. David Lloyd George, Lord Palmerston and our own Sir Titus Salt would turn in their graves.
