SIR – Very good news about the Odeon renovations, but unfortunately it does not solve Bradford’s problems. I visit the Alhambra on a regular basis and talking to theatre goers I found although they love the theatre they do not like the city.

The reason being they do not feel safe and I quite understand their concerns.

It used to be a lovely city but at the present time it seems to belong to the drunks and drop outs.

The problem areas are outside the Oastler Market, Ivegate and bottom of Sunbridge Road where groups of men spend their time drinking and swearing and no one in authority to stop them.

They congregate in particular round the bus shelters, particularly outside the Oastler Market and it is quite intimidating.
