SIR – We were delighted to see so many people from Bradford when we went to the demonstration in support of the people of Gaza in London on Saturday.

Bradford MPs George Galloway and (our own MP) David Ward were among the speakers in Hyde Park to 150,000 people appalled at the killing of nearly 2,000 Palestinians in Gaza in just a month.

BradfordBoycott has started a campaign in Bradford to boycott companies that support Israel and it is a great way for people in Bradford to support Gaza if they wish to do so. Finally, we met David Ward returning on the train second class – now I bet there are not many MPs who you could say that about!

Jim Newsham, Fagley Road, Bradford Project must be viable SIR – In your editions of August 6 and 9 you tell us that the Council has now reduced the shortlist to restore the former Odeon to one applicant and that the final decision will be made in November.

Presumably the time will be used to check, amongst other things, that the project is truly viable and that finance for the full cost is available and ready. In particular that there will be no-last minute request for public or lottery funds and that there is a proven and competent operator tied up.

This will be a considerable achievement.
