SIR – On March 9, 2012, I wrote to you expressing my horror that George Galloway had set his sights on Bradford. I found his extreme views as pernicious then as I do now.
His inflammatory public speeches continue to characterise his politics, and I would be surprised if West Yorkshire police do not charge him with inciting racial hatred.
With any luck, the general election could bring a fresh start for Bradford West, and a brighter future.
In the meantime, my advice to the majority of decent and tolerant people living in Mr Galloway’s constituency is to avoid the distraction caused by his circus.
Instead, a focus on worthwhile community projects, and encouraging their leaders, will reap endless rewards, while the alternative will only perpetuate conflict and misery.
Ian Lyons, Liberal Democrat, Town Councillor (Baildon East)
