SIR - David Hornsby (Letters, July 23), is not happy with the Monarchy and believes that the British people deserve the right to democratically elect a Head of State of our own.

He also believes that people in high positions of power and influence are expected to be accountable and elected.

That is the best letter yet to ‘ensure’ we preserve the Monarchy, against politicians and that democratic ‘mafia’ in Brussels.

Don’t be ‘half-cocked’ Mr Hornsby, be brave, put a name forward to the British people, but I’ll probably stick with what we have.
