City’s incredible Capital One Cup dream may have come to an end yesterday, but the fantastic memories it has left us with will live on for generations.

Not least of them will be the image of superb travelling support continuing to sing their hearts out at Wembley even when it became very clear there was no possibility of a fairytale ending.

For millions of television viewers, the iconic image from the final will surely be the thousands of City fans cheering every kick even though they were already four down.

The level of support shown has been truly incredible, but in the end, the gulf in class across four divisions was too much, and no amount of spirit and bravery was enough to span it.

For the players and manager Phil Parkinson, there is no shame in the defeat; they had already achieved way beyond the wildest expectations of even the most optimistic supporter.

Their performances have been unbelievable, and everyone involved will remember this cup run for the rest of their days.

Beyond the confines of football, the city itself has been placed firmly into the national spotlight, and many hope this sporting success can act as a catalyst for a wider regeneration.

Their achievements have undoubtedly lifted the whole district.

And for that, Parkinson and his players deserve a huge thank you. Their incredible efforts, along with the superb support of the fans, has truly done Bradford proud.
