DISCOUNT retailer Home Bargains is to open a branch in Cleckheaton this weekend.

The firm has taken over the former Netto store and is investing £600,000 in its newest site, as well as creating 50 jobs.

The site on Northgate was vacated by Netto last year, despite only opening in the new-build a few months before.

It will be officially opened at 8am on Saturday, February 18.

Volunteers from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be at the store to raise awareness, as part of the firm’s pledge to raise funds for the service.

The company, which is one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, is creating up to 50 new jobs in the community with its store on Northgate.

Operations director Joe Morris said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our first store in Cleckheaton and look forward to welcoming new customers through the doors.”

The 11,200 sq ft unit will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.
