Fire in electrical substation causes smoke damage at Flexitallic Ltd in Cleckheaton

Firefighters from Cleckheaton and Odsal were called to the incident at the factory in Scandinavia Mill, Hunsworth Lane, at around 11.45pm last night.

A spokesman for the Cleckheaton crew said the building was heavily smoke-logged on their arrival, with the crew using thermal imaging to trace the problem to an electrical intake into the factory.

A transformer in an electrical substation outside the warehouse was on fire, with crews calling Northern Powergrid to assist in making the site safe.

Crews used four breathing apparatus and dry powder to extinguish the fire.

Flexitallic Ltd is an international manufacturer and supplier of industrial gasket and sealing products.
