TWO safes and hundreds of pounds worth of groceries were stolen from a food store in Cleckheaton.

The burglary, at the business in Central Arcade, happened between 10pm on Sunday, and 7am on Monday. Two large safes were stolen along with groceries and other items, including nearly 50 bottles of alcohol.

Detective Sergeant Mark Taylor, of Kirklees District CID, said: "We believe that more than one person was involved and that they have used a vehicle. We are keen to hear from anyone who has seen any individuals behaving suspiciously in the Central Arcade area overnight between Sunday night and Monday morning or who has seen items being loaded in to a vehicle.
