THE Wharfedale Naturalists Society heard about the natural history of the Dales at its latest meeting.
A large audience packed into Christ Church Sanctuary to hear zoo-archaeologist Professor Terry O’Connor’s talk, called The History and Natural History of the Dales.
The audience learned how the familiar limestone landscape was shaped as temperatures rose and fell, and how this determined the animal populations that lived there.
These populations included prey, such as deer, horses and lemmings, and predators such as wolves, wildcat and lynx.
