LEEDS North West MP Greg Mulholland has written to Yorkshire Bank's chief executive to oppose the closure one of its branches in the Bradford area.

The doomed branches are in Queensbury, Ilkley, Heckmondwike and Yeadon.

The closures will take affect between July and September and Yorkshire Bank said it will try to find alternative roles for staff.

Mr Mulholland has written to David Duffy, Yorkshire Bank chief executive, raising concerns about the closure of its Yeadon branch, and the impact it would have on customers.

Mr Mulholland said: "I was very concerned to hear of Yorkshire Banks plans to close their Yeadon branch, and immediately wrote to the chief executive about this matter.

"I am increasingly concerned about such moves, which assume that all the bank's customers will be able to use online banking, or simply go to a different branch.

"I would therefore ask that Yorkshire Bank seriously reconsider this move, taking into account the needs of local residents, and I would urge them to keep this valuable local resource open."
