AN EIGHT-year-old girl had a miracle escape on Tuesday afternoon after falling 50 feet off rocks at Otley Chevin.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service received a call at 1.45pm yesterday to say the girl had fallen and sent a rapid response vehicle, a road ambulance, the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

Also in attendance were West Yorkshire Police and 16 members of the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team, who were alerted at 1.57pm.

Once on scene CVSRT assisted the ambulance crew and the HART team to carry the casualty by stretcher to the land ambulance for treatment. They were on scene for two hours and 23 minutes.

Tim Ingram, media secretary for CVSRT said: "Miraculously, the casualty was relatively unhurt from her fall."

A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "The eight-year-old girl was taken by land ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary."
