PASSENGER numbers at Leeds Bradford Airport reached a record in 2014 at more than 3.8 million, in a year which saw several landmarks achieved.

The 83-year-old airport in Yeadon now hosts flights to 70 destinations with direct flights to 23 countries and with ten major airlines operating services.

Highlights of 2014 included being named best UK airport in January at the Globe Travel Awards and the announcement of £1.2 million of investment in its terminals.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director, (pictured) said: “2014 has been a milestone year for Leeds Bradford and one which has seen a range of terminal developments alongside important new routes, airlines and services introduced.”

In April, LBA became one of UK’s fastest growing airports as passenger levels exceeded 3.3 million. Several airlines also introduced new services, including Eastern Airways, Jet2.com, Ryanair, Flybe, Aer Lingus, Monarch Airlines and Thomson.
