Youngsters at DM Academy’s summer school got arty by creating this huge industrial-size canvas which will form the backdrop for their production in September.
The painting which is nine metres high and 11.5 metres wide is the work of 44 children aged between six and 17, who attended the Shipley dance school’s summer classes.
The canvas is their interpretation of the landscape around Saltaire , inspired by their visit to the David Hockney exhibition at Salts Mill.
Deana Morgan, owner and principal of DM Academy, said: “The canvas is absolutely stunning, I’m hoping after the production it will hang in Salts Mill.
“But first it will form part of the show in September.”
Professional local artist Sarah Jane Mason worked with the young people on the project.
The canvas will be at the back of the Alhambra stage during the dance school’s production, A Stroke of Genius on Friday, September 7, and Saturday, September 8. For tickets ring (01274) 432000.
