All ages will be able to get active in Lund Park thanks to an £80,000 funding boost.

Cash from two environmental grants bodies will pay for play facilities for toddlers and teenagers and an adult fitness zone.

The money will transform the current recreation area with new equipment and a resurfaced BMX track.

Lund Park Community Group, made up of local residents, won £41,371 each from Yorventure and WREN.

The Park Play Zone will have a jakarta multi-play unit for toddlers, while the junior area for two to ten-year-olds will have a play house and arc swing.

There will also be fitness equipment for teenagers and adults.

The funding is the culmination of two years’ work by the group, supported by Jo Horrox of Keighley & Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action, who worked with Bradford Council’s sports and environmental department and the now-defunct Streets Ahead project.

Jo said: “This is something that will be enjoyed for years to come. It’s fantastic news for all the community.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved, and particularly the children and young people who helped to choose the equipment.”
