Bradford marks St George's Day

More than 200 Scouts marched through the streets of Bradford during their annual St George’s Day parade.

Crowds lined the pavements along Market Street to watch the colourful parade pass by on its route from Centenary Square to Bradford Cathedral yesterday afternoon.

The Scouts, accompanied by a marching band were given a police escort as they passed through the city centre on a glorious sunny day – a stark contrast from the rain that greeted last year’s event.

Members of the parade then packed into the cathedral, where they renewed their vows, before returning to Centenary Square to salute the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Howard Middleton.

Bradley Dean, ten, of Eccleshill, took part in the parade as a member of the 30th Bradford North Scouts. He said: “I love the St George’s Day parade. I enjoy the music and like to march.”
