More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the official opening of a mosque in Bradford.
The Al Mahdi Mosque, in Rees Way, Undercliffe, was built by the Bradford branch of the UK Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.
It will be officially inaugurated by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Supreme Leader of the worldwide Ahmadiyya community.
Coverage of the ceremony at noon on Friday, followed by a 1pm sermon, will be shown on Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA) in around 200 countries.
The Al Mahdi mosque took two years and cost £2.5 million to build. It can accommodate more than 2,000 worshippers. It was financed through voluntary donations by Ahmadi Muslims in Bradford and across the UK.
Dr Bary Malik, president of Bradford’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, said: “The doors of the mosque are open to everyone. We want to do as much as we can for the community and for Bradford.”
Some 300 guests have been invited to a special dinner reception in the evening.
