FRIENDS and family of a 13 year-old Bradford boy suffering from cancer rallied together to raise thousands towards his care on Saturday.
Austin Smith, from Clayton, has bone and lung cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Leeds General Infirmary.
Over the weekend, events took place to support the ‘Facing Austim’s Cancer Together’ appeal, which is aiming to raise £10,000 to support Austin and his parents - Riley and Jess - and his little sister Morgan.
Two of Austin’s aunts, Abi and Alana, were part of the ‘Austinators’ group who braved the 5km “Pretty Muddy Halifax’ Race for Life, and a fun day was also held at the Green Top Nursery in Clayton, which raised £1,700.
Hannah Smith, also Austin’s aunt, said: “Everyone has been truly amazing and we will never be able to thank them enough for what they have done. Riley, Jess, Austin, and Morgan have been truly touched by everyone’s kindness and generosity, as have the rest of the family. It’s really given us all a boost.”
