PLANS to open a cake shop and tearoom in the Shearbridge area of Bradford have been refused because of the parking problems they would cause.
An application to turn an industrial unit on Summerville Road to the cake shop and cafe, complete with fireplace and grand piano, was thrown out by Bradford Council.
The application said the business would manufacture and sell cakes and macaroons.
There were several objections, including from Shearbridge Residents Association, which said: “Parking is already a serious issue on this road.”
Planning officers said: “The proposed use would lead to an increase in on-street parking in an area where parking problems already exist which will likely result in conflicts between local residents and customers.”
