POLICE yesterday targeted Leeds-Bradford International Airport as part of the second day of national Counter Terrorism Awareness Week.
Officers shared travel and security advice with the public and transport providers at the airport and other specified locations in Bradford and across West Yorkshire, including rail stations and transport depots.
There were increased police patrols at transport sites, and targeted operations and security briefings as part of a wider, co-ordinated activity throughout the country.
Security was increased after the threat level for a terrorist attack was raised to severe in August. Counter Terrorism security advisers showed staff what to watch out for and how to respond to a terrorist incident.
Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Wilson said: “It is vital that we don’t become complacent.”
