MORE than 300,000 Bradford voters have had their details transferred to a new electoral roll.
The new Individual Electoral Registration (IER) forms part of the biggest change to the electoral registration system in 100 years.
People must register to vote individually, rather than one person registering everyone in a household.
Figures show in Bradford 88 per cent of people on the old system have had their details moved to the new roll.
Those remaining should have received letters requsting their National Insurance numbers and dates of birth so they can be transferred.
Electoral Commission analysis suggests private renters, young people and students were least likely to be transferred automatically to the new registers.
Barbara Lines, Electoral Commission regional manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “No-one will come off the electoral register because of this change before the 2015 UK Parliamentary General Election.”
