MORE than 80 teachers at schools across Bradford have been issued with teaching packs to help them explode myths surrounding Ebola among pupils.
ActionAid has contacted 84 teachers in the city, most working at primary schools, with information to help them make sure pupils are aware of the facts surround the outbreak of the potentially lethal virus in Africa.
Information includes a quiz, photographs, infographics and links to locations where up to date statistics can be found.
ActionAid say the work is a response to anecdotal evidence elsewhere in the country of playground bullying linked to Ebola and they also point to incidents such as a school reported postponing a trip from a teacher in Ghana. In another case, a petition was started in opposition to a teacher exchange trip with Kenya.
Chris Parker, ActionAid’s schools team manager, said: “Our teaching resources focus on facts rather than playground myths.”
