Two “expendable” street drug dealers were locked up for their roles in a well organised supply chain delivering heroin and crack cocaine to desperate addicts in Bradford.

Ahsan Khan, 23, ferried wraps of Class A drugs across the city in a “powerful and expensive” red Subaru Impreza. Khan, of Haslingden Drive, Heaton, Bradford, pleaded guilty to supplying drugs to undercover police officers six times over four days.

Tahmoor Arif, 19, of Weetwood Road, Girlington, Bradford, admitted taking part in nine drugs transactions.

Both men were locked up for three years and four months, Khan in prison and Arif in a young-offender institution.

Prosecutor Richard Davies told Bradford Crown Court yesterday the men were arrested in a crackdown on street drug dealing in the city.

They were caught supplying heroin and crack cocaine to undercover officers posing as drug dealers in May and June this year.

Mr Davies said Khan and Arif were working for the “Q” supply line that delivered wraps of Class A drugs to waiting addicts in minutes.

The pair arrived at appointments in a variety of cars, turning up at pre-arranged places, including Valley Parade in Manningham, Spring Mill Street, West Bowling, and Whetley Lane.

In mitigation Khan’s barrister, Stephen Wood, said his client was a hard-working man who was highly thought of. Speaking of both defendants, Mr Wood said: “They are the expendables. They are not the organisers or the profiteers.”

Andrew Dallas, for Arif, said he was a low-achieving teenager whose cannabis habit got out of control.

Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, told the men: “People whose lives are being ruined by the use of Class A drugs need and want more of the stuff and they can easily ring a telephone line and order it.” He said Khan and Arif had ensured a ready supply of heroin and crack cocaine across the city.
