Bradford’s own pop idol Gareth Gates was due back at school today.
He was invited to help shape the careers of young talented singers, dancers and actors from across the district by giving an exclusive performance at Tong High, a specialist sports and performing arts school, in front of 200 pupils.
As a solo artist, the 29-year-old, who rose to fame in TV’s Pop Idol show, has sold more than 3.5 million records and has carved a career in musical theatre.
As part of his visit he will be running a mini introductory workshop for the school’s performing art students.
Head teacher Steve Curran said: “Over the years, Tong’s thriving Performing Arts Department has forged strong partnerships with industry professionals. It is fantastic to have someone like Gareth to share his expertise in performing arts, together with his industry knowledge, to inspire our students.”
