A MAN caught allegedly breaking into cars in Riddlesden has been shipped down south to face investigation for other crimes.

Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team arrested the man on suspicion of theft from motor vehicles in Riddlesden last weekend. He was later charged.

PC Al Bartlett tweeted: “He tried to give false details as he was wanted for further crimes in Bedfordshire. He is now with our colleagues in Bedfordshire Police.”

In response to other incidents of thefts from motor vehicles, police this week searched a house in Keighley, and later issued a picture of items recovered, including satnavs and mobile phones.

Car break-ins over the past few days prompted a crime prevention warning from Sgt Pete Softley, of Keighley NPT, for people who park their cars outside their homes.

He said: “So many offences are opportunists trying door handles. Please lock up your cars and leave nothing valuable on display. We want less victims so give them zero targets.

During the weekend, police arrested males for burglary in Keighley and Ilkley and later conducted house searches.

Sgt Softley later tweeted: “Nothing fills me with Christmas spirit more than a van of burglars courtesy of Keighley ward officers on their way to our cells. Burglaries continuing to fall in Keighley."
