A KEIGHLEY councillor has called for people to provide further details on locations within Keighley parish that are vulnerable to flooding.

Councillor Peter Corkindale was updating fellow town councillors on a meeting he attended with Bradford Council's flood and emergency planning team.

He said the town council would be expected to have a key role in responding to any future emergency in the parish, noting that while certain disasters could not be predicted in advance, it is still possible to make some preparations for flooding.

"This is one area where we can co-operate fully with Bradford Council," he said.

"Obviously we already know about certain parts of Keighley that have a flooding problem, including Stockbridge and Goose Eye

"But I've only recently found out that there are problems with the water courses in the Cackleshaw and Sykes Lane area."

He said a location was being confirmed for an emergency provisions cabinet, which would stock useful items such as torches, radios and high visibility jackets.

Cllr Corkindale said it was likely this would be at Keighley Fire Station, to ensure 24-hour access is maintained.
