A KEIGHLEY charity has issued a warning to all its members after its email account was hacked.

People First Keighley and Craven, which caters for people with learning disabilities, did not want anyone to be tricked by bogus messages.

The group, based at Springfield Mill in Oakworth Road, discovered this week that hackers had infiltrated their email database.

This meant that vulnerable members and hundreds of other people received messages pretending to be from People First.

Co-ordinator Hanna Bennett said anyone who clicked on the message was diverted to a Ukrainian website which asked for money.

She said: “We realised that the hackers had set up a forwarding email, so that any emails coming in to us were automatically rerouted to the hackers’ email account.

“This meant for a few hours we didn’t receive any emails, we have no idea how many emails were intercepted.”

People First’s correct email address is peoplefirst@live.co.uk.
