CHILDREN at Lees Primary School have sent teddies to refugee children as part of Project Paddington.

The project was developed by a group of Sheffield mothers in response to the growing humanitarian crisis amongst refugees and displaced people.

The children in Lees and Cross Roads were asked to donate a teddy, along with a picture and letter, to be sent abroad.

The pupils, who were from year three, also asked family and friends to sponsor their teddy’s journey, raising much needed funds for the charity Tearfund.

Tearfund will distribute the bears and money throughout their networks in Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Europe.

The Lees children donated 93 bears and raised £700.

A campaign launched in Sheffield to encourage youngsters to donate their teddies to refugee children has gone international.
