Hundreds of school pupils enjoyed the red carpet treatment when a cinema hosted Keighley's first film festival for children.

Youngsters from across the district attended the Picture House Cinema in North Street this afternoon for the glamorous event, where movies made by the schools were screened.

The celebration was one of many organised as part of Keighley Festival, which began on Monday.

Pupils from St Francis School in Swain House, Bradford, had been working on their film, I Made This World, since November. The movies tells the story of the school every decade since it opened in 1958, weaving in major world events from each decade as the story progresses.

To make the film the school reached out to former pupils for old photographs, objects and stories of life at St Francis over the last 60 years.

St Joseph’s, St Anne’s and Our Lady of Victories schools in Keighley were also involved in the event.

The schools worked with Brilliant Films, run by former BBC filmmaker Mark Waddington, and Keighley Festival leader and historian Malcolm Hanson.
