A TEMPORARY charity shop in Haworth has raised £2,000 for Christian Aid.
The pop-up shop was arranged by the Churches Together in Haworth and Cross Roads group, and was based in Sonia's Smile, in Main Street, for six days.
Reverend Peter Mayo-Smith, priest-in-charge at Haworth Parish Church, said the shop was organised by John and Kathleen Milne, adding that it managed to raise slightly more than last year's temporary store at the same location.
"We're very grateful to Sonia's Smile owner Rita Verity who lent us her premises for free," he added. "That was very generous of her – especially to do it at such a busy time of the year for trading.
"It was terrific during the 1940s Weekend. The shop sold pretty much everything from clothing, books and crockery to games, toys and bric-a-brac.
"We felt pretty shattered by the end of it, but we had volunteers from all the local churches helping out – Methodists, Catholics, Anglicans and Baptists."
