ORGANISERS of this year's Haworth 1940s Weekend say the event has so far raised about £21,000 for charity.
Last weekend's successful event was again held to raise money for the armed forces charity the Soldiers, Sailors & Airmen's Families Association. (SSAFA)
Haworth Main Street trader Nikki Carroll (pictured), one of the local organisers, said more money is still due to come in, but added the fundraising total would be affected by the large scale theft of traffic cones for a second year running.
She said 84 cones had gone missing this time, compared with 161 during the 2014 1940s weekend.
"They'll all have to be paid for," she added. "It is a bit disheartening because people have volunteered lots of time and effort to raise as much for SSAFA as possible, and the money required for the missing cones is cash which could have been used for people in need."
People who find any of the missing cones are asked to return them to Firth's Boutique, in Main Street, Haworth.
