A HAWORTH resident is organising a benefit gig to raise cash to save or restore public services in the village.

John Lambert is arranging the April 18 event, featuring four bands, to raise funds for Haworth and Worth Valley Fire Station and Haworth Community Centre.

The fire station is currently mothballed after being closed down at the end of last year as part of cost-cutting measures.

The community centre, in Butt Lane, faces an uncertain future after its owners, Bradford Council, revealed it formed part of a review of the council’s assets.

Both properties are subject to ongoing campaigns to re-open or retain them.

Mr Lambert said: “The community centre is really well-used for annual events and parties. It would be a shame if it closed.

“The gig will be taking place at the community centre on April 18, with doors opening at 4.30pm and the first band on from 5pm.

Tickets are available now at newmodelarmy.org or from Firth’s Boutique in Haworth.
