CHILDREN and adults joined forces for a “clean up Keighley” scheme.
They teamed up to get rid of litter and potentially dangerous items of rubbish in Devonshire Park and Utley Cemetery as part of a day of action arranged by the Madinah Mosque, in Spencer Street.
The mosque is affiliated to the UK Islamic Mission, which held a national community action project.
Adnan Mehmood, of the Mosque, said: “We joined the local scouts group to take part in the clean-up. Devonshire Park was extremely dirty, and we found many smashed bottles.
“Members of the mosque, along with 4th Keighley Madinah Scouts Group, spent the day litter-picking. We hoped to raise awareness of the importance of cleanliness within the community. It was a great turnout.”
The mosque will be holding an open day on November 16 from 10am to 3pm. Mr Mehmood said: “We would like our community to see what happens in our mosque. They will be able to watch how we pray, and we’ll be having a meal provided by the mosque.”
