SLAMMING a door in response to an insult from his ex-partner cost a Keighley man £220 when he appeared in court yesterday.

Phillip Scotton-Bradley had been asked to leave Sophie Tattersfield's home and called a "rubbish father", before he slammed a door and damaged its lock mechanism on his way out.

The 22-year-old had been at the property on Hemsby Grove, on September 1 this year, to see his young daughter, when an argument started.

In mitigation, the court was told: "Everything was going fine until she said he was a rubbish father. He was told to leave, he did, and on the way out he closed a door with a bit more force than normal."

Scotton-Bradley, of Cartmel Road, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was also in breach of a six-month conditional discharge imposed in March for another offence.

Magistrates fined him a total of £225.
