Young people and environmental campaigners in Silsden are fighting to stop flooding.
They have applied for cash to build a mini-flood barrier near the bridge across Silsden Beck at Kirkgate.
It would form a gate in the wall so people could still go down to feed the ducks.
The gate would be closed in heavy rain, stopping water escaping into St John Street and saving cottages that front on to the beck from flooding.
The barrier is a joint scheme by Silsden Youth Council and Silsden Environmental Group.
They have applied for £2,500 from the Keighley Area Committee, whose members were due to decide today.
Town and district councillor Adrian Naylor said: “The floodgate would make the wall continuous and block off any water. It also seeps through the wall so that would be repointed.”
