Work has started on improving the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath near the Polish Memorial near Bradley, Skipton.
The memorial was erected in 2007 in memory of seven Polish airmen who died when their Wellington Bomber crashed there at Hamblethorpe Bridge on September 23, 1943.
Now, after complaints about the footpath, it will be resurfaced in crushed aggregate donated by Tarmac Recycling (the first load transported free by Longthorne Brothers of Hebden), labour provided by the Government’s Back to Work scheme, and Merritt and Fryers bagging the material ready for delivery by British Waterways barges.
