Residents of Steeton village have been invited to comment on proposals for a new community centre.

Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council chairman, Councillor David Mullen, stressed that the plans remained at an early stage.

“But if the whole village became involved, that would be fantastic,” he said.

He said the proposals grew out of Steeton and Eastburn’s parish plan, produced in 2008.

Coun Mullen said the reaction to the document showed a desire for some form of community hub to help bring residents together.

The parish council then set up a steering group to examine the issue.

The centre could be developed next to the bowling green, in Skipton Road, which is owned by the parish council.

The sketch plan for the potential facility is on the parish council website, steeton-with-eastburnparishcouncil.gov.uk. People wanting to see the plan should click on the ‘community hub’ heading.
