Police are warning motorists to lock their cars after a spate of thefts in Silsden and Steeton.

Last month, three vehicles were stolen in Silsden and four from the Steeton and Eastburn area.

Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team also reported that two violent crimes had taken place in the Silsden area, both “domestic-related”, and one offence of criminal damage was logged.

In Steeton and Eastburn, three inicidents of criminal damage took place and there was one burglary from a dwelling other than a house.

The Craven NPT priority in Steeton and Eastburn this month will be to monitor speeding in Skipton Road through the Speedwatch initiative and enforcement campaigns.

The team will also be monitoring the Thornhill Road area for vehicles causing an obstruction.

Sgt Jo Beecroft, from Craven NPT, said: “We would advise people to secure their vehicles before leaving them at all times.”
