A man who has been arrested nearly 40 times in two years – often for drunken behaviour – has now been banned from his own village.

Andrew Peacock, 30, from Oakworth, near Keighley, has also been banned from drinking alcohol in public anywhere in West Yorkshire.

He was yesterday made the subject of an interim Anti-social Behaviour Order (ASBO) imposed by West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council.

If Peacock breaks the order he could be jailed for up to five years.

Sergeant Mark Wheeler of Bingley and Worth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) said: “This interim ASBO will now prevent him for causing problems within the Worth Valley and any breach of this will lead to arrest and possibly prison.”

Under the terms of his ASBO, Peacock is banned from being drunk in a public place or possessing alcohol in public anywhere in West Yorkshire, except for on official licensed premises such as a pub. He has also been barred from going into Oakworth, Haworth and Cross Roads unless on public transport or in a taxi, and from being drunk in a public place or causing an annoyance anywhere in West Yorkshire.

If he breaks the order, he will be arrested.

Since 2009, police officers arrested Peacock on 38 occasions for offences relating to drunken behaviour, public disorder and failure to appear at court, West Yorkshire Police said.

The majority of the offences were committed in the Oakworth area.

Sergeant Wheeler said: “This is another example of our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour in the area. This particular male continued to commit low-level criminal acts despite numerous arrests and court appearances over the last two years.”

Peacock will be before magistrates in June, who will decide whether to give him a full ASBO.
