Two men needed hospital treatment after the stolen 4x4 they were in failed to stop for police.

The vehicle, a Toyota Rav4, crashed into a row of parked cars before ploughing into a wall in Oakworth.

A police spokesman said there had been reports of a stolen vehicle passing through Keighley at about 2.20am on Saturday and a patrol car was in the early stages of pursuing the vehicle.

The 4x4 veered off the road in Oakworth Road with the junction of Wheathead Lane, in Oakworth, Keighley. Three parked cars were damaged when the driver, a 21-year-old Keighley man, lost control.

An 18-year-old male passenger, also from the Keighley area, was injured in the collision.

Police sealed off the road for several hours on Saturday morning for officers to investigate. The badly damaged stolen vehicle was removed from the scene a short time later.

Documents revealed the vehicle was registered to someone in Lincolnshire.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and were taken to Airedale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yesterday, a police spokesman said the 18-year-old was being detained and treated in hospital. The driver has been released on bail.
