South Craven School pupils are among those chosen to form a guard of honour for Olympic athletes when they make their way to the opening ceremony.
Eight students from the school, at Cross Hills, near Keighley, will take part in the event at the Olympic Park on July 27. A spokesman said: “We are one of only 250 schools invited from all regions across the UK to show support for the 204 competing teams of the Olympic Games.
“We’re going to support the athletes of the Bahamas. We will design our own banner and hold lanterns while shouting cheers of support as the athletes make their way from the Athletes Village into the Olympic Stadium for the opening.”
The pupils who will attend are Niamh Fearnley, Taine Lightfoot, Aiden Smith, Matthew Turner, George Marshall, Anna Morris, Kate Willets and Lucy Ward.
