A spring clean on Saturday, March 26, will help Addingham get ready for the first visit of the Yorkshire in Bloom judges this year.

Addingham Civic Society is calling on people to support the clean-up by volunteering to go out with rubbish bags and litter pickers.

The clean-up is scheduled from 9am to noon, and all volunteers are asked to meet at Addingham Memorial Hall car park, Main Street, at 9am.

Areas of will be allocated to individuals or groups to make sure as much of the village as possible gets a spring clean.

A spokesman for the society said: “Please turn out in force so the society can again produce a great result.”

Bags and litter pickers will be supplied by Bradford Council, and the Council will also take away the bagged rubbish.

The Yorkshire in Bloom judges will pay their first visit of the year to Addingham on Wednesday, April 6.

Members of Addingham Garden Friends will accompany them on their tour of public and private gardens. They will be shown the work of different village organisations, as judges take into account the efforts of the whole community. The Friends say the judges are appreciative of displays in planters and hangers.

Both organisations are keen to encourage residents to get the village looking at its best.
