A body found in the Lake District is missing fisherman Mark Bryant from Addingham, police confirmed today.

The body of the 55-year-old, who lived at Beamsley, was found by police divers in Ullswater, Cumbria, following a 30-hour search which began on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Bryant’s body was recovered at about 7.30pm yesterday, and police yesterday revealed he had been formally identified.

Concern for the angler was raised by his partner after he failed to return to the Side Farm Campsite, in Patterdale where the couple had been on holiday.

Two groups from the Patterdale Mountain Rescue teams and police officers searched the eight-mile long lake, with four dogs, and discovered Mr Bryant’s dinghy.

The coastguard and diving teams were called in and although the search was called off for around three hours early of yesterday, it resumed at 6.30am.

Divers used sonar equipment to scour the bottom of the lake until they discovered Mr Bryant’s body. Officers believe there are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner and Mr Bryant’s immediate family have been informed.

Tonight, a spokesman for Cumbria Police said Mr Bryant’s family were not yet prepared to release any details about the fisherman.
