Landowners in the Yorkshire Dales are being encouraged to plant new broadleaf trees with the offer of grants and support.

The environmental charity the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, along with their partners the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forestry Commission, is appealing to landowners in the Dales who may be considering tree planting to take advantage of new funding and advice.

The appeal is part of a woodland restoration programme which has been going on in the Dales since 1997.

Chris Lodge, YDMT Project Officer, said: “We intend to increase the native broadleaved tree cover across the Yorkshire Dales.”
