Police have urged cabbies in Bradford to take extra care following two robberies which officers believe are linked.

The latest robbery took place today when a minicab driver picked up three men from Hudson Crescent, Great Horton, Bradford, at 1.25am.

The driver was told to head for Wyke and, after arriving at Worthing Head Road, one of the passengers held the driver while the other two robbed him.

They stole his Nokia N97 mobile phone, a silver-plated watch in the shape of a 50-pence piece, which had green writing on it, and cash.

Police have revealed a similar robbery took place on Wednesday, April 7, in Worthing Head Road at 11.30pm.

The suspects had called a different minicab firm from a withheld phone number and booked a car to pick them up from Arncliffe Terrace, Bradford.

After the cab arrived, three men got in and sat in the same positions as in the latest robbery, one in the front and two in the rear passenger seats.

They directed the driver to Worthing Head Road and when they reached the dead end in the road one of the passengers restrained the driver while the other two stole his money and driving documents.

Detective Inspector Ian Bryar, of Bradford South CID, said: “We believe these two robberies are linked and would advise taxi drivers to take extra care.”

The suspects were all slim, white men in their early 20s.

The first was 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in with short brown or blond hair.

The second man was 5ft 10in with short brown hair. The final suspect was 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in with short brown hair.

Det Insp Bryar said: “I would urge anyone who has any information about these suspects to contact me on 0845 6060606 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
