A personal assistant at the University of Bradford has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Now Lizzie Rhodes, 34, of Allerton, is back home she has handed over a cheque for £2,246.

“It was an interesting but brief visit to the ambulance base because the helicopter was called out whilst I was there,” she said.

“The total I raised overall was £2,246. My initial aim was to raise £1,000 so I am extremely pleased.

“I am thankful to friends and family who donated money and supported my fundraising day, but also to business who donated items for an auction.”

Miss Rhodes took on the challenge after being inspired by celebrities climbing it first for Comic Relief.

“When I saw the celebrities do it it gave me the extra spur to get it booked and start training,” she said.
