Young people in Buttershaw are going to highlight the threat a changing climate will have to the bee population at an event tomorrow.
The ‘Beefest’ event aims to alert other young people and residents of the need to do more for the environment to protect it for future generations. There will be a honey barbecue, bee-friendly shrub planting, lantern-making and den-building at Buttershaw Youth Centre, in Reevy Road, from noon to 8pm.
Local bands, dancers and BMX riders will give performances and young people can try go-karting, contributing to a graffiti wall, making home made pizzas and radio station, Bradford Community Broadcasting, will be there throughout the day.
Organisers hope people will volunteer to help with a community garden project at the back of the centre, which recently yielded crops of carrots, beetroots and potatoes.
