Shipley MP Philip Davies calls for EU referendum

Philip Davies Philip Davies

Philip Davies has signed up to a campaign calling for an EU referendum.

The Shipley MP is one of 64 cross-party MPs who have signed the People's Pledge, calling for the public to have a say on Britain’s membership in Europe.

The group announced yesterday it plans to hold referendums in 11 parliamentary constituencies this year – followed by up to 100 more in 2013. It will announce the first area next week.

Mr Davies said: “The last time people had a vote was 1975 and that was on the Common market, now it is the European Union. People thought they were voting on free trade, not to have the majority of our laws made there. The EU is bleeding us dry.”

I would certainly vote to leave but I don't think it will ever happen.

I see that in the story above this one that we've just been allocated a new MEP that we haven't had the opportunity to vote for. More Euro democracy in action!

Every couple of weeks Davies bleats some right-wing Daily Mail soundbite and then goes back to eating grass.

At least he has something to say. There's only him & David Ward that are even remotely visible.
I have no idea what the other Bradford MPs do for the city!

Mr Ward was on the TV on Sunday saying hunting was cruel and he wouldn't be looking to back it being made legal again.
.
I wish the woman on the show had asked him where he stood on non stunned halal seeing as though he seemed to be in a animal rights mood.

If "right wing" means making sure that fanatical Islamic clerics who preach hate on the streets of this country are deported back to where they came from, Mr Davies gets my vote. Another idiotic decision by the European Court of "Justice".
