A CHARITY has transformed its second-hand shop into a space for people to enjoy their creative side.

HALE, a healthy living charity based in Shipley, has created the HALE Hub at its Kirkgate shop which is now also a workshop.

People can develop their recycling and 'up-cycling' skills or create new products in the fields of woodwork and sewing/making clothing.

Natasha Thomas, chief officer at HALE, said: "We opened the HALE shop last year, allowing us to get established in the Shipley area, but this was always just the beginning of our longer term strategy for the shop and the charity."

Items which are made in the workshops can be sold in the shop on a 'pay as you feel' scheme.

The sewing and woodwork workshops started in the HALE Hub on Saturday when there was a grand opening event.

HALE is also holding a fashion show and fundraising event on Tuesday, April 26, at Bingley St Ives Golf Club. Tickets cost £5 per person, under 16s £3. Doors open at 6.30pm.
