A MAN elbowed a female train conductor in an "unprovoked and unacceptable attack" after she asked to see his ticket at Shipley railway station.

British Transport Police Investigating officer PC Sarah Stephenson said the victim approached a passenger the Bradford to Ilkley service.

"The man refused and became aggressive towards the train guard, swearing at her. He then jumped out of his seat and climbed over the seat in front of him, barging her out of the way and elbowing her in the face with his arm," she said.

The victim, who was 52, walked towards the driver's cab to get help and the man followed, barged past her and pushing her into a seat.

The woman was left with a bruised cheekbone and pain and bruising down her side.

Police want to speak to a man (pictured) who may have vital information.

PC Stephenson added: "This was an unprovoked and unacceptable attack on a member of rail staff simply doing her job; she has been left extremely shaken and has not been able to return to work since the incident."

The incident happened at about 3.25pm on December 30 last year and the alleged suspect was captured on CCTV.
